The Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Office Workers in Gresham

Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Office Workers

Sitting at a desk for long periods can lead to chronic neck and back pain, which often worsens without proper treatment. Chiropractic care for office workers in Gresham focuses on relieving pain and promoting long-term wellness by addressing the root causes of discomfort in the spine, muscles, and nerves.

What Is Chiropractic Care for Office Workers?

Chiropractic care for office workers is a non-invasive treatment that focuses on alleviating pain caused by prolonged sitting, poor posture, and repetitive tasks. By using hands-on spinal adjustments and other therapeutic techniques, chiropractors help restore proper alignment, reduce pain, and improve mobility in the neck, back, and joints.

This treatment is especially beneficial for individuals who experience neck and back pain from desk jobs. The goal of chiropractic care is to reduce pain, improve posture, and prevent future discomfort from work-related activities.

How Can Chiropractic Care Help with Neck Pain?

Neck pain is a common issue for office workers who spend long hours hunched over a computer or desk. Poor posture, especially slouching or craning the neck forward, puts extra stress on the cervical spine, leading to muscle strain, stiffness, and discomfort.

Chiropractic care for neck pain in Gresham involves spinal adjustments that help restore proper alignment in the cervical spine. By targeting misaligned vertebrae, chiropractors can relieve pressure on the nerves, reduce inflammation, and improve movement. In addition, chiropractors may incorporate soft tissue therapy to alleviate muscle tension in the neck and shoulders, further promoting healing.

Why Office Workers Need Chiropractic Care for Back Pain

Back pain is another widespread issue among office workers due to sitting for extended periods and poor ergonomics. Office chairs that don’t provide adequate lumbar support can exacerbate lower back pain, while repetitive movements like typing or using a mouse can lead to strain in the spine and surrounding muscles.

Chiropractic care for back pain focuses on restoring spinal health by correcting misalignments, improving posture, and relieving muscle tension. A chiropractor for back pain will assess your posture and spine alignment to provide targeted treatment, often including spinal adjustments and stretches to ease discomfort. These adjustments can improve circulation, relieve muscle tightness, and reduce inflammation, helping office workers feel more comfortable and less fatigued throughout the day.

What Techniques Do Chiropractors Use for Neck and Back Pain Relief?

Chiropractors use several effective techniques to treat neck and back pain in office workers:

  • Spinal Adjustments: The primary method chiropractors use to address misalignments in the spine. These adjustments restore proper alignment, relieve nerve pressure, and reduce pain.

  • Soft Tissue Therapy: Targeting tight muscles and fascia to relieve muscle tension and improve flexibility. This is especially helpful for workers who experience stiffness in their neck, shoulders, and back.

  • Postural Training: Chiropractors may offer advice and exercises to improve posture, which is essential for preventing future pain. Simple adjustments to how you sit, stand, and move can have a significant impact on your comfort.

  • Stretching and Strengthening Exercises: Specific exercises may be recommended to strengthen the muscles supporting the spine, preventing strain and injury in the future.

By integrating these techniques, chiropractors help office workers achieve long-term pain relief, better posture, and improved spinal health.

How Can Chiropractic Care Prevent Future Neck and Back Problems for Office Workers?

While chiropractic care provides immediate pain relief, it also focuses on long-term prevention. Regular visits to a chiropractor for office workers can help identify early signs of misalignment or poor posture before they lead to more serious issues.

Chiropractic care can teach office workers how to maintain a neutral spine position while sitting, standing, and moving, significantly reducing the risk of developing chronic neck and back pain. Additionally, strengthening the muscles that support the spine through targeted exercises can reduce the likelihood of future discomfort.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe for Office Workers?

Yes, chiropractic care is a safe and effective treatment for neck and back pain caused by office work. Chiropractors are trained to perform adjustments safely, tailoring their approach to each individual’s needs. The non-invasive nature of chiropractic care makes it a preferred option for those looking to avoid medications or invasive procedures.

However, it’s essential to consult with a chiropractor who specializes in treating office workers to ensure you receive the most appropriate treatment for your unique concerns.

Dr. Mark Betsill

Dr. Mark Betsill is a dedicated chiropractor serving patients in Gresham with more than a decade of experience helping individuals move better, feel better, and return to the activities they enjoy most. He earned his undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Health from Boise State University, where his interest in health and human performance first began to take shape.

After experiencing firsthand how chiropractic care helped him recover from an upper back injury that was affecting his golf game, Dr. Betsill discovered the path he wanted to pursue. He went on to attend Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2007.

Dr. Betsill focuses on helping patients recover from neck and back pain, sports injuries, postural stress, auto accident injuries, and workplace-related conditions. He uses gentle, effective techniques including manual adjustments, the Activator Method, and drop-table adjustments to address spinal misalignment and extremity dysfunction. He also has a special clinical interest in neck and lower back disc herniations, often combining chiropractic adjustments with computerized mechanical traction to improve pain relief, mobility, and function.

While many patients first visit because of pain, Dr. Betsill is passionate about helping them move beyond symptom relief. His goal is to help people improve functional movement, maintain spinal health, and support long-term wellness. He treats patients of all ages—including infants, children, teens, athletes, and pregnant women—and believes chiropractic care can play an important role in addressing not only spinal concerns, but also shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, and foot discomfort.

Shortly before graduating in 2007, Dr. Betsill faced a personal health challenge that deeply shaped his philosophy of care. After multiple emergency room visits for dizziness, syncope, and chest pain, he began looking beyond symptoms alone. Through that experience, he came to better understand the effects of physical, chemical, and emotional stress on the body. By combining chiropractic care, massage, exercise, and proper nutrition, he restored his own health—an experience that continues to influence the way he cares for patients today.

Originally from northern Nevada and southern Idaho, Dr. Betsill grew up playing sports, with golf becoming a lifelong favorite. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Today, he and his wife and two sons enjoy life in the Pacific Northwest. When he’s not in the office, you’ll often find him on the course with the men’s club at Gresham Golf Course or staying active and fit with his family.
