If you’re struggling with the debilitating pain and limited mobility caused by a herniated disc, Aspire Chiropractic in Gresham, OR, is here to help. Our dedicated team of chiropractors specializes in providing effective and personalized care for herniated discs, offering relief and improving your quality of life. We understand the challenges and frustrations that come with this condition, and we are committed to helping you find lasting relief and optimal spinal health.
A herniated disc, also known as a slipped or ruptured disc, occurs when the soft inner material of a spinal disc pushes through the outer layer, irritating nearby nerves and causing pain. This condition is often the result of wear and tear, repetitive motion, or trauma to the spine.
At Aspire Chiropractic, we take a comprehensive and personalized approach to herniated disc injury treatment. Our goal is to address the underlying cause of your condition and provide relief by restoring proper spinal alignment, reducing inflammation, and promoting natural healing. We offer a range of chiropractic techniques and therapies tailored to your specific needs.
Here’s an overview of our approach:
Our experienced chiropractors will conduct a thorough examination, which may include a review of your medical history, a physical assessment, and, if necessary, diagnostic imaging tests. This assessment helps us understand the extent of your herniated disc injury and develop an effective treatment plan.
Chiropractic adjustments are a cornerstone of our treatment approach. By gently realigning the spine, we relieve pressure on the affected disc and nearby nerves, reducing pain and promoting healing. Our chiropractors use precise and controlled techniques to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the process.
We may incorporate spinal decompression therapy into your treatment plan. This non-surgical technique involves gently stretching the spine, creating negative pressure within the disc, and allowing the herniated material to retract. Decompression therapy helps relieve pain, improve disc hydration, and stimulate the healing process.
We will guide you through specific exercises and stretches to strengthen the supporting muscles around the affected area, improve flexibility, and enhance spinal stability. These exercises can be performed both in our office and at home to expedite your recovery and prevent future injuries.
Our chiropractors will provide you with guidance on ergonomics, posture correction, and modifications to your daily activities that can help alleviate stress on the spine and promote healing. We will work with you to develop a customized plan that fits your lifestyle and supports your long-term well-being.

Neck pain can be caused by a variety of factors including muscle strains, worn joints, nerve compression, injuries, or diseases such as arthritis. Visiting a chiropractor for neck pain can be beneficial, as they specialize in treating musculoskeletal issues by adjusting the spine to improve alignment and relieve pain.
A chiropractor treats neck pain through spinal manipulation and adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and prescribing exercises to strengthen and improve neck mobility. Chiropractic care is generally considered safe for treating neck pain, especially when performed by a licensed and experienced practitioner.
During your first chiropractic visit for neck pain, expect a thorough examination, discussion of your health history, and possibly diagnostic tests before receiving any treatment. The number of chiropractic sessions needed for neck pain varies depending on the individual’s condition, with some experiencing relief after a few sessions and others requiring longer-term care.
Chiropractic care is generally safe for neck pain, especially when performed by a trained and licensed chiropractor, with the majority of patients experiencing relief and minimal side effects. However, it’s important to communicate openly with your chiropractor about your health history and any concerns, as certain conditions may require caution or alternative treatments.
During your first chiropractic visit for neck pain, expect a comprehensive evaluation that includes a detailed discussion of your health history, a physical examination focusing on your spine, and possibly diagnostic imaging tests to pinpoint the cause of your pain. Your chiropractor will then discuss a customized treatment plan with you, which may begin with spinal adjustments or other techniques aimed at relieving your neck pain and improving function.
The number of chiropractic sessions required for neck pain varies depending on the individual’s specific condition, the severity of the pain, and their response to treatment. While some patients may experience significant relief after just a few sessions, others might need a more extended treatment plan, spanning several weeks to months, to achieve the desired outcomes.

Dr. Mark Betsill is a dedicated chiropractor serving patients in Gresham with more than a decade of experience helping individuals move better, feel better, and return to the activities they enjoy most. He earned his undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Health from Boise State University, where his interest in health and human performance first began to take shape.
After experiencing firsthand how chiropractic care helped him recover from an upper back injury that was affecting his golf game, Dr. Betsill discovered the path he wanted to pursue. He went on to attend Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2007.
Dr. Betsill focuses on helping patients recover from neck and back pain, sports injuries, postural stress, auto accident injuries, and workplace-related conditions. He uses gentle, effective techniques including manual adjustments, the Activator Method, and drop-table adjustments to address spinal misalignment and extremity dysfunction. He also has a special clinical interest in neck and lower back disc herniations, often combining chiropractic adjustments with computerized mechanical traction to improve pain relief, mobility, and function.
While many patients first visit because of pain, Dr. Betsill is passionate about helping them move beyond symptom relief. His goal is to help people improve functional movement, maintain spinal health, and support long-term wellness. He treats patients of all ages—including infants, children, teens, athletes, and pregnant women—and believes chiropractic care can play an important role in addressing not only spinal concerns, but also shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, and foot discomfort.
Shortly before graduating in 2007, Dr. Betsill faced a personal health challenge that deeply shaped his philosophy of care. After multiple emergency room visits for dizziness, syncope, and chest pain, he began looking beyond symptoms alone. Through that experience, he came to better understand the effects of physical, chemical, and emotional stress on the body. By combining chiropractic care, massage, exercise, and proper nutrition, he restored his own health—an experience that continues to influence the way he cares for patients today.
Originally from northern Nevada and southern Idaho, Dr. Betsill grew up playing sports, with golf becoming a lifelong favorite. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Today, he and his wife and two sons enjoy life in the Pacific Northwest. When he’s not in the office, you’ll often find him on the course with the men’s club at Gresham Golf Course or staying active and fit with his family.
